I will say we were very surprised that BOB released their new BOB Revolution SE Duallie on Febraury 1st with no adapter bar....what....the adapter bar for the Duallie will be shipping in late April.

The good news: if you have an infant ages 6-8 weeks you can go strolling without the adapter bar...no running! You can start back to running with your infant in the stroller without the adapter bar at 6-8 months. As always please check with your pediatrician first. We compared two of our favorite strollers last Spring when the newly revised Baby Jogger Summit XC came out. We now have a New Mountain Buggy Terrain to add to the competition. The Terrain was released early Fall of 2010. We also have the Newly updated BOB Revolution SE which was released February 1st of 2011. All 3 strollers may appear to be the same at first but, there are definite differences. Please see our list for a comparison. We do have our favorite but, it really depends upon your lifestyle.

Keeping your stroller safe while unattended.

How safe is it to leave your stroller outside unattended? Not very, I have heard time and time again how people have had their strollers stolen from local amusement parks and some from just outside their front door. Check out Craigs List lost & found and you will see parents desperate to get their stroller back. With strollers costing an average of $4-600.00 it is wise to protect your investment.

Aside from putting a Lo-Jack on your stroller there are a few things you can do:

1) Be sure to register your stroller with the manufacture as soon as you get it. Why? Because each stroller has it's own special ID number. Knowing the number to give police helps you get your stroller back quicker when and if it is found.

2) Purchase a BuggyGuard stroller lock. This Mom invented stroller lock came to be when she had her own BOB stroller stolen from her patio. This is great to use at amusement parks or if you have to park your stroller outside while you dine inside. You simply wrap it around a park bench, tree or thru the strollers front and back wheels. At only $19.99 you cannot go wrong.

Have you ever seen a double tandem running stroller?

This is a question I am asked from time to time. Is there an in-line or tandem double jogging stroller in the market? The answer is yes, but really it is no. For those of you that do not know I am a Mother of One plus triplets. My children are only 2 years and minutes apart...I had 4 children in a stroller at once. I pushed a quad in-line stroller by Berg Design. This stroller was great to push...a breeze. I think I cried when my children outgrew it. There were some down sides to this tandem stroller some of which have been addressed since the time my children were in a stroller.

You must un-load back to front

IF the above was not followed the stroller would tip backwards onto its handlebar. Stability was a big issue. Thankfully with the few tips backwards we had my kiddos were strapped in snuggly.

So, why has'nt any of the big manufactures like Baby Jogger, BOB, or In Step come out with an in-line double running stroller? It all comes down to stability. The in-line stroller is not balanced well enough for exercising behind. With a double wide stroller you have a stroller that is stable and will not tip over when you exercise behind it.

Top 5 mistakes made when purchasing a baby stroller

As a new parent you will be needing lots of gear. One of the most important purchases you will be making is a baby stroller. You will use the same stroller (if purchased correctly) from birth until your child starts school. You will use it even longer than the crib your baby will be sleeping in.

Here is a list of our top 5 mistakes made when purchasing a baby stroller:

Not purchasing the best baby stroller you can afford- A stroller that is a bargain in the beginning will not last your babies stroller years. You want a stroller that is a little more expensive because you get better fabrics, sturdier frames, better tires, larger sun hoods and better designs.

Not buying a convertible stroller- The beauty of spending a little more for your stroller is that it usually comes with more accessory options. One optional accessory is the infant car seat adapter (some manufactures include this for free). The adapter bar turns your stroller into a travel system from day one. A mother never wants to wake a sleeping newborn. When your infant outgrows the infant seat adapter you simply remove the bar and you have a new stroller for your toddler to sit in. Please note that infant seat adapters are made for only the most popular car seats. The most popular being: Graco, Peg Perego, Britax and Chicco. Not all manufactures have an adapter for every make and model.

Buying the first stroller you see-A baby stroller is a major purchase. As I mentioned it is equally important as the purchase of your new crib. This is not an impulse purchase. Be sure to research on-line and speak to other new parents first before you head out to the stores. Push one when you can. Be sure to stop in at the big box stores like Target or Babies R Us first. Then you have something to compare a better made stroller to. You will not find strollers made to last in these stores. Your child will also outgrow it earlier than a more expensive stroller.

Buying a stroller that is not collapsible- I have seen many strollers tossed in the back of trucks or SUV's because they were too hard to collapse. This goes for both expensive and cheap strollers. An easy folding stroller makes everyones life much easier. All of the strollers we sell collapse with a 1 or 2 step fold. Some you can even hold your baby in one arm and collapse the stroller with the other.

Buying a stroller that does not fit your lifestyle- It is very important to purchase a stroller to fit your lifestyle. If you are a runner or outdoors alot you will probably want a stroller with large air filled tires. If you travel alot you will want something light weight that functions like a full service stroller. If you want a stroller to do just about anything a stroller with mid sized tires will serve you well.

Does your baby stroller need shocks?

I personally love strollers with shocks as they are great to run behind. Here are a few things to consider when purchasing a stroller with shocks:

-Will you be using your stroller for running

-Will you be using your stroller on uneven roads or sidewalks

-Will you be using your stroller on trails

If you answered "yes" to any of the above you will want a stroller with shocks. The shocks will absorb the energy created by bumps and dips in the road therefore providing a smoother ride for baby.

Does your stroller need brakes?

This is a question that comes up frequently. Does your stroller need brakes? All strollers have a foot brake to keep your stroller from rolling when stopped. Does it have a hand brake though? One of our favorite strollers does not come with a hand brake. All of our active running/exercise strollers do come with tethers though.

Here is what you need to consider before purchasing a stroller without a hand brake:

-Will I be running with this stroller?

-Will I be running or pushing this stroller in areas where there are lots of hills?

If you answer "yes" to any of the above I would purchase a stroller with a hand brake.

When you have an infant, going down hills may seem easy at first but, when you have 2 children or even a 3 year old and you are trying to run down a hill you are doing all that you can to pull the stroller back to you. Even when you are using a tether. My theory has always been why work harder than you have to when pushing a stroller.

How much is enough to spend on a new stroller?

When you purchase a less exspensive stroller you get just that. A product that is not going to hold up for you. Spending $100 gets you a stroller that might have a swivel/fixed wheel, sunhood and fold but, the sunhood will not be as big, the fold will not be as easy and the swivel/ fixed wheel option you were so happy to have will start to shimmy (move quickly side to side) over a very short time.

What you get when you purchase a $300-600 stroller:

-Large Sunhoods

-Swivle/Fixed wheels that easily change from swivel to fixed

-Easy Fold

-Padded adjustable or fixed handlebars for parents of different heights

-Padded seats

-Handlebar consoles, belly bars and car seat adapters (free on some models)

-Great Re-sale value as this stroller was built to last

Do you need a stroller with a recilining seat?

The answer is "yes". Reclining seats were introduced to the baby market over 10 years ago. Can you imagine pushing a stroller and not being able to have it recline when your infant or child slept? I am sure this made for a crabby baby.

Here are a few things you can expect to see with our strollers (features change depending upon brand):

-Full recline for a lay flat position

-75-85% recline for a resting position (most manufactures offer this recline)

-For Newborns 0-6 months we recommend using some kind of head support to prevent their little heads from bobbing all around.

The Seats come in 2 styles:

-Hammock style which usually have a zippered recline or a tether

-Board back styles come with and without padding

That is about it on stroller seats. Hope this helps in your stroller purchase.

Is your baby warm enough for the winter weather?

Babies cannot monitor their warmth like we can. As a general rule they should have on 1 more layer than us. Here are a few of our favorite things to keep your little one warm while out and about this winter season:

A warm sleeping bag or sleep sack is perfect to keep their body temperature up. They easily attach to most strollers (excludes BOB strollers) or infant seats. We like the universal JJCole BundleMe or Mountain Buggy sleeping bag.

A cap will also help keep his body temeperature up.

If it is raining, snowing or just plain cold out a weather shield will help keep your little one dry and happy in the frigid temperatures.

A seat liner or stroller insert is also another option. This will add warmth from underneath only. It will be a warm and cozy spot for your little one to sit in as most stroller canvas fabrics get really cold.

The Sub4 is a hybrid running stroller that I really do not know what to think of. At a retail price of $899 for a single it had better be something very special. Was I "Wowed" well, read on to see. I would love your feedback on this one.

It would be fun to run behind if only to take it for a test drive. Does your stroller need an adjustable handlebar?

This is for our parents of varying heights. If your husband is tall and you are not, you will want an adjustable handle bar. Adjustable handlebars are great for strollers you do not plan to run behind. The reason being is that if you run behind an adjustable handlebar you will start to have play in the ratchet system from the added pressure you put on your handlebar when running.

Fixed handlebars you use for running are typically made for people 5'2" to 6'2". You will want a fixed handlebar if you have alot of sidewalks to go up and over also. You will be pulling the stroller onto its back wheels to pivot and make it over curbs.

Proper fit is one of the most important things to think about when making your stroller purchase. Pushing a stroller that does not fit you properly is very hard on your back.

Here is what we recommend when pushing your stroller:

-Stand tall and push from your core or middle

-Bend at your elbows

-Forearms should be parallel to the ground.

Bumper bars...does your stroller really need one?

Bumper bars are a great place to attach toys or snack trays but, do you really need one? We like the bumper bar as another safety measure of keeping your child in his seat safely.

Many of the new bumper bars have multi purposes. Some convert from an infant seat adapter to a padded bumper bar (Bumbleride Indie). Others convert from an infant seat adapter bar to a snack tray (BOB Revolution ICSA). While other stroller manufactures sell each item separately letting the consumer decide what they do and do not need.

The nice thing is that the trend now is to include the bumper bar for free (Phil & Teds Explorer or Mountain Buggy Jungle). Just keep in mind it is built into the price of what you are paying for so, if you do not think you will need it maybe consider another stroller.

All in all bumper bars are great as a safety back up and an added comfort item for your toddler.

Child safety in a baby stroller

Is your baby or child safe in their stroller. If they are in a harness you are doing your job to keep them safe.

Most strollers now have a 5-point harness. Use the harness; it will protect your little guy from falling out of the stroller. I have seen too many accidents where a parent makes a quick stop or a wheel falls off with the stroller and child tumbling. Children get to an age where they start undoing the harnesses by themselves. Do your best to keep them in.

Here are a few things that worked for me and my three:

-Breakfast snacks & water while riding

-Games such as "count the amount of bunnies, stop signs, etc that you see"

-Educational games such as a Vsmile or iphone

-Sing songs

-Cheer on other walkers or runner as you pass them by "Go Mommy Go"

-Attach toys & bottles to your stroller with a tether (we carry Sippi Grip)

I know this can be a challenging time for you and your children. The good thing is...this too shall pass. Enjoy the challenges while you can.

How to clean your Baby Stroller

All of us do it...we are out and about feeding our children on the go while in their stroller...a few dropped Cheerios and leaky milk bottles later we have a dirty and sometimes stinky stroller. What to do to refresh your stroller...Febreeze cannot erase this...sorry Mom's.

Here is what we do:

1.Place stroller in driveway or yard

2. Remove everything from the stroller pockets and seats (much like a purse they get filled with interesting things)

3. Vacuum the stroller seat with a hand vacuum

4. Spot clean with Spray n Wash or other mild stain remover. We use a soft brush and a bowl of water. Do not use bleach.

5. Remove seat cover from the stroller and machine wash your stroller seat on gentle cycle and hang dry

6. OR use a large bowl of warm sudsy water and hand wash your stroller seat (less time as you do not have to re-assemble). Be sure to follow up with a rinse of warm water.

7. Once you have completely cleaned the stroller wheels, frame, handlebar and snack trays if you have them be sure to leave outside (in a safe area) with your stroller un-folded for several hours so that the fabrics can dry. I have found that being set up in the garage overnight works very well.

8.If all of this seems like to daunting of a task there are now stroller cleaners some of which are even mobile. Be prepared to give up your stroller for about a week while your baby stroller is restored to like new condition again.

Stroller fabrics...there is a difference..

One of the big differences in stroller pricing is the cost of the fabrics. Much like an all cotton tee purchased from Target compared to a designer tee purchased from Barney's the weight, touch and durability of the fabric is what you are paying for. With strollers it is the same thing. Here are just a few things you may get when purchasing a high end stroller:

Wearability...fabrics that will not rip or tear easily

Fabrics that are softer to the touch and not rough on babies skin

UV protection

Water/stain resistant

Fading is minimal

Fabrics made of recycled products

Bottom line, there is alot more that goes into a higher priced strollers fabric. You get what you pay for!

What color stroller is best for your lifestyle?

Most of us have a color preference when it comes to choosing a stroller. There are a few things to consider when purchasing your preferred color.

Bright colors (Orange, Red, Yellow,Lime)attract the most attention making them perfect to run behind.
If you are out at nite alot reflective fabric is a plus or you could use our new Glo Bugz which attach a red or clear light to your stroller to help you see at nite.
Light colors although beautiful to look at are not very practical without a seat liner.
City dwellers do best with dark colors like Black, Navy or Chocolate as they hide the dirt and grime picked up from city streets.

One final note...all stroller fabrices can be cleaned so whichever color you choose please know that you can clean your stroller with a little effort.

Let's go Natural with Bumbleride's 2011 Strollers

Bumbleride has decided to add diversity to their ever popular Bumbleride Indie line. Taking the same clean lines and manueverability you currently have with the Bumbleride Indie and making it available on the new stroller groups for 2011. The new groups will be in addtion to their current line of Lava, Seagrass, Ruby and Vita. Spice will be retiring for 2011. Purchase spice soon before this color is sold out.

Bumbleride is introducing a new line using recycled materials called the Natural Edition. This stroller line will feature earth friendly fabrics using bamboo. The bamboo blend fabrics offer a super soft touch for your little one. The new Indie stroller will be available in a warm chocolate color called Walnut and a deep rich navy color called Ocean. Bumbleride will be shipping their New "Natural Edition" in late Spring 2011.

Bumbleride is also introducing a new sporty version of the Bumbleride Indie. I personally really liked this line. The Indie is often compared to the BOB Revolution so why not make it look a little more sporty like the BOB. The new line is called the Movement Edition. The new line featuring water-resistant (yes, we tested it and it does repel water!) fabrics will keep your little one dry while you get your "move" on outside. The new line has nuetral colors with a punch of bright colors. You will see Jet black with and electric blue trim and a Fog grey with a spicy orange trim. City Select-new Color going into 2011...they will be adding Amethyst(purple) to their jewel collection available in late spring.
-additional changes are 1" of depth added to the 2nd seat.

City Mini-New changes to one of our favorite everyday lightweight strollers.
-Introduced in October on all 2011 models (shipping now)is the new back board offering a sturdier back to the stroller seat.
-Also introduced was the upright strap to help your child sit more upright while in the seat

-Bassinets-All of you have asked for this and now you can...you will be able to put 1 or 2 bassinets in the 2011 City Mini!! If you use 2 bassinets in the double you will have to remove the strollers hoods.

City Elite-No changes here as it went thru some big changes on this years models. colors will still remain the same green, black or red in the single or double.

Stroller Trends for 2011 Baby Strollers

After just arriving home from our Annual Kids Show in Vegas we had to share with all of you the trends we saw in the market:

- The color Purple, Amethyst or Plum whichever name you prefer to call it. Purple is definitely the new hot color in strollers. Funny how it is about a year after purple has become so popular in clothing. We love it and think when mixed with grey or charcoal (probably the 2nd most trending color) it is perfect for boys or girls. It is the color of royalty after all!

-In line double strollers-Wow, if you did not have an in-line convertible stroller (seating for one or two) in your fashion line of strollers you missed the boat this year. Everyone had one. Our favorites still are the original Phil & Teds Explorer or the new Baby Jogger City Select as both offer seating for larger children.

-We also saw a new market getting ready to explode...the convertible bike trailer! Bike trailers have many different functions now. For an extra charge you can convert your bike trailer into a fixed wheeled jogging stroller or stroller with swivel wheels. We are working on getting one of the best names in the bike trailer business in our store. Stay tuned for details.

-Exclusive or Limited Edition prints also seem to be popular. We saw this trend with a few of our vendors. It is for the parent who wants to have something a little different than everyone else. It does get a little overwhelming when you walk out of your Mommy & Me class and see a half dozen black City Mini's. Well aside from putting a Lo-Jack on your stroller there are a few things you can do:

2) Purchase a BuggyGuard stroller lock. This Mom invented stroller lock was inspired by the fact that she had her own BOB stroller stolen from her patio. This is great to use at amusement parks or if you have to park your stroller outside while you dine inside. You simply wrap it around a park bench, tree or thru the strollers front and back wheels. An Easy Folding Stroller is important......

When looking for a stroller you want one that is easy to fold and store in your trunk. Getting it open should be easy as well. You do not want a stroller that you have to take apart every time you go somewhere. I cannot tell you the amount of times I have seen frustrated parents try and put their Bugaboo's away. Unfortunately, they are not very user friendly. Most strollers have "tricks" to folding them easily. If your salesperson does not know this be sure to contact the manufacture.

If your stroller does not fold easily you will find it stays set up in the garage for local walks or you end up buying a new one. Generally, the more exspensive strollers have the easiest folds.

What is the difference in stroller tire size and tread?

You will find many different tires and treads available to you. Some are plastic while others are rubber like a bike tire. New this year is an air filled tire which feels like an air filled but, it is not. Most all of our strollers have air filled tires (just like a bike tire). This makes it easier to push and more comfortable for your baby over many different terrains. We will break down some of the different tires we have available on our most popular strollers.
-20 inch wheels (biggest tire made for a stroller) are great for running. You will find 20" tires on the following joggers Kool-Stop, Baby Jogger Performance or BOB Ironman Because of the shocks the slick 16" tires perform like a 20" on the Ironman. Strollers with 20" wheels are all fixed wheeled strollers.

-16 inch wheels are what many people like to work out behind on many different terrains. We reccomend the Baby Jogger Summit XC, BOB Revolution, Bumbleride Indie, Mountain Buggy Terrain or the Baby Jogger FIT With the exception of the Fit (three 16" tires) all of these strollers have 16' rear wheels with 12" swivel front wheels.

-12 inch wheels are great for strolling or very short jogs we recommend the Bumbleride Indie, NEW Phil & Teds Explorer, Baby Jogger City Elite with Forever Air Tires and the Valco Baby Tri Mode.

-8 inch wheels are perfect for travel or quick trips to the Dr's office. Some parents prefer this stroller tire over others as the stroller are generally lighter. We recommend the Baby Jogger City Mini or the new Valco Baby Ion (due to the size of the tire these are not air filled).

-What to push on rough terrain: For outings on rough terrain like dirt trails, sandy beaches or streets filled with pot holes we recommend the BOB SUS as it has 16" tires (similar to a mountain bike) that actually grabs the surface you are pushing it on.

What to do if you have a flat tire on your stroller...

I have heard of it happening....you are out strolling along and your tire goes flat. On stroller tires 12" and larger you most likely have an air filled tire. Yes, it is a big inconvenience but, it is an easy fix.

What to do when your air filled tire goes flat:
-If you carry a small tire pump (found at bike store or big box store) with you stop and air up your tire until you get home.
-Once home remove the tire. Tires are usually released easily by a lever or a push button.
-Take tire to your local bike shop to fix the tire or tube.
-If you do not have a local bike shop a big box store will stock the tubes you need for your stroller. Cost is approx. $5.00. Replace the tube and air up.

If you have just received your new stroller with air filled tires be sure to pump a little air into your stroller tires using a bike pump. Strollers are shipped with tires not fully aired up to avoid them being punctured in transit. Each stroller tire has a maximum amount of air to fill your tire with be sure to follow that guideline.

When Can your infant go into a stroller?

When can an infant go in a stroller? This is a question many of us ask. It is also a question that has many different opinions.

If your stroller has a car seat adapter you can bring your new baby out immediately. Most stroller manufacturers recommend that you wait until your infant is 6 to 8 weeks old for any kind of walking exercise, and wait 6 months for running. The reason behind the recommended wait is infants do not have good head and neck control until they are several weeks old.

*Please always check with your pediatrician first.

Here are a few travel systems you may like: New Phil & Teds Explorer, Valco Baby Tri Mode, Bumbleride Indie or a Baby Jogger City Elite.

No need to make an exspensive stroller purchase until after baby is born with this stroller.

January of 2010 started off with a bang with the introduction of some very popular strollers. So popular that we could not keep them in stock and nor could the manufacturer. In past years, we would stock the most popular items and drop ship the others. Deliveries were never a problem.

This year the game has changed.

It has been taking several weeks to months to have out of stock items re-stocked.
Many manufactures have quoted deliveries to us weeks and sometimes months out. Once it comes time to ship on the manufactures quoted date they are often extended again. Causing frustration for everyone.
At Joggermom.com we do our best to keep our customers updated with delivery dates. Instead of giving you a vague answer like "out of stock" or "back ordered" when you sign into our site you will see a projected delivery date given to us by our manufactures.
We change our shipping dates when items sell out and go back on pre-order for a specific date.
Because we allocate our orders out with our manufactures the deliveries are usually quicker than other companies.

We do everything we can to keep our commitment for on-time deliveries, but shipping dates from the manufacturer is something we cannot control. Here is what you can do to ensure receiving your stroller when you need it:

We advise placing your order 2-3 months before you due date to assure you of getting your stroller before the baby arrives.

I have been wanting to share this list of accessories with you for some time....Here are a few of my favorite things that I have used with my stroller and without that make each mile all that much easier. I use these items on each training run or walk I do.

-Thermos for cool Hydration

-Daily Mile to post your daily workout and socialize with other like minded people

-Strollometer-attaches to stroller, records mileage and time it takes to get there

-Garmin...need I say more....love mine...records every workout and is uploadable to your computer so that you can analyze your workout.

-ipod...perfect for running solo or plugging into the Baby Jogger MP3 console for music out loud

-MapMyRun...you can track your run before you actually do it. Say you want to run 6 miles...just plug in your starting point and away you go before you even leave the house.

-Drink holder for the stroller-Whether it hangs on the side or Velcros to the handlebar this is a must.

-Fuel Belt...love having fuel on me as I log my miles. I put 2 bottles in the freezer the nite before and then refrigerate the other 2. This way I always have a cool drink...even at mile 8.

-Stroller...there are so many out there but, my favorite was my Baby Jogger Performance Double. Mind you I never pushed 1 child (more options) and I like to run behind a fixed wheeled stroller. BOB Revolution and Baby Jogger Summit XC are great choices for a multi use running stroller.

All of these items have been personally road tested by me...Joggermom...I hope you pick up a new accessory that will make your next run even better.

Valco Baby has had their toddler seat for quite some time. It is a personal favorite of ours as it allows you to turn your single stroller into a double and a Double stroller into a triple. The double with toddler seat has been a true blessing for all parents who have three close in age or have a toddler and "surprise" you are now expecting twins.
With the new "Joey Seat" comes a new "Joey Hood". You will only be able to use this new 2010 version together. All previous hoods and toddler seats must work together as they are not interchangeable with the new Joey....sorry!
The seat itself has a higher seat back making it even more comfortable for it's passenger. The weight limit will remain at 45lbs but, the seat itself will be a little narrower making it easier for brother or sister to get in and out of the stroller.

An educational program of the National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition (HMHB), text4baby provides pregnant women and new moms with information they need to take care of their health and give their babies the best possible start in life. Women who sign up for the service by texting BABY (or BEBE for Spanish) to 511411 will receive free SMS text messages each week, timed to their due date or baby’s date of birth.

What topics do these messages cover you might ask...The messages focus on a variety of topics critical to your health and the health of your baby , including immunization (shots), nutrition, seasonal flu, prenatal care, emotional well being, drugs and alcohol, labor and delivery, stopping smoking, breastfeeding, mental health, birth defects prevention, oral health, car seat safety, exercise and fitness, developmental milestones, safe sleep, family violence, and more.

The text messages will appear while you are pregnant and then for the first year of your babies life. Unfortunately it is only informational and you cannot ask questions. I guess this is something you should be asking your gynecologist anyway. When you are ready to stop the service simply sign on and cancel.

There are so many scary moments as a first time mother both during your pregnancy and after. This is just another tool to keep you better informed. I think it is a great idea that many of us can use.

Our rep for Mountain Buggy is also our Rep for Phil & Teds. Phil & Teds took over Mountain Buggy almost a year ago. I wanted to share a few important facts about the Phil & Teds Sport that you may not have known already.

Phil & Teds offers a full recline with a nice size peekaboo window big enough to remove a sleeping baby

When using the full recline Phil & Teds reccomends using the cocoon (similar to a sleeping bag)

As a double you want to put your infant in full recline position and attach the toddler seat on top or in front of your infant. The toddler seat holds up to 44 lbs in front position

Very important...when using the infant in full recline and your toddler in the top seat it is imperative that you wrap the red tether around the handlebar to avoid breaking hinges.

When you infant is 3-4 months old you can transfer him to the lower or underneath seat. When using this position you should have your toddler in the main seat 55 lbs max and your infant in the lower seat with a 33 lb max. The sport 2nd seat does recline a few inches for little ones to nap.

You can fold with the 2nd seat in place

To unlock your stroller you only need to push the grey button on the left side of the stroller.

New ratcheted hood with an extra 8 inches of sun hood when you use the New flip out

Clips to close your stroller are now covered on one side to avoid finger pinches and stopping curious little feet from moving the clips to close it as well

I have received calls almost daily for customers looking to purchase the Tike Tech Double All Terrain X3 sport. The reason for the call is because the customer cannot find this stroller in-stock anywhere. The price is great at only $349.99 for a double all terrain running stroller. Unfortunately, stock is usually sold out by the time the customer is ready to make their purchase. Most people do not want to wait 3 months for a stroller. I have an equal or better option to the Tike Tech Double all Terrain X3 Sport and that is the BOB Sport Utility Stroller.
You are getting a stroller with very similar dimensions, similar fold, similar look and features. The BOB SUS Duallie is a little more money at $429.00 but, you are also getting the BOB name which is known for quality. The SUS is what BOB started out with over 10 years ago. It is a quality made stroller with optional accessories such as the infant seat adaptor (comes with 2 snack trays), handlebar console, rain shield and sun shield that are readily available at a better price than the Tike Tech.

Here is what makes the two different:

Bumper Bar is included with the Tike Tech
Welded drop outs (Tike Techs are plastic) you will notice this on the front wheels.
BOB also has shocks (Tike Tech has something similar) and
Tracking adjustment which is key if you are a runner. No one wants a stroller that pulls you to the left or right. The tracking is located on the front wheel.

Both of these sport strollers are great for sandy beaches or dirt trails as they both have tires similar to a mountain bikes tire that grabs the surface it is on.

There are three main changes to the Indie and Indie Twin for 2010:

Larger canopies, they offer 9 more inches of sun coverage

New multi-purpose bars come standard (function as a bumper bar or infant car seat adapter bar).
*Indie Twin comes with two bars, but can only accommodate one car seat

As many of you know I am a huge fan of the BOB Revolution. It is the original swivel wheel/fixed wheeled stroller used for every day living and exercise. Baby Jogger the first to create a running stroller over 25 years ago came out with the Summit 360 last year to compete with the BOB Revolution. Shocks: BOB Revolution has 2 shocks with one over each rear wheel. You can adjust the strength of the shock for infants or toddlers. Baby Jogger Summit XC has shocks on each wheel. What shocks do is make your passengers ride less bumpy.
Seat back: Both are similar in size but, Baby Joggers Summit XC is padded where the BOB Revolution is not.
Fold: both have easy folds with Baby Jogger being slightly easier to get in and out of your vehicle as you have a handle to hold onto
Alignment: BOB Revolution is the only stroller that has a front wheel alignment. This is important for runners who run with their stroller in fixed wheel position. There is an alignment adjuster on the front wheel. No one likes running behind a stroller that pulls you into the bushes.
Safety leash: Both come with safety leashes. it is best to use them because if you were to fall this is the only thing that would stop your stroller
Hand Brake: The Baby Jogger Summit XC is the only stroller with a rear hand brake. Important if you have alot of hills where you walk.
Fixed wheel and Swivel wheel: both offer these options. Swivel is for walking on flat terrain and fixed is for running or walking on hills.
Best for tall or older children: The only stroller I will recommend for taller children is the Baby Jogger Summit XC. It has a taller sunhood which gives your child more headroom.

With four children in school daily lunches really got me thinking of how wasteful we were being. We would go thru 12 lunch baggies a day. That is not good for anyone. So we rececntly decided to make a change to that by adding ReSnackIt Sandwich bags and Snack bags. Had to share this one with you girls who breast feed your babies. I thought it was interesting enough to share as I had no idea this happened when you breast fed. "Brisk walking and resistence training (can you say Stroller Strides, Baby Boot Camp or Stroller Fit) three days a week can reduce bone loss in breast-feeding women by 31 percent." This study was conducted at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. So breast feeding and exercise work hand in hand. Hot new work out moves to breathe life into your stale stroller workout.

Turning Your Stroller In To A Workout

-Single Arm Chest Press – This exercise is best done pushing up hill. A sloped driveway will work fine. Start with stroller just in front of you, with one hand on the handlebar and arm bent. Use that arm to push stroller up hill, with upper body slightly opening through range of motion. Focus on chest muscles for the push. Return and repeat about 12 times. Switch and repeat on other side.
-Stroller Row – Walk back to your driveway or another small hill. This time you will have the stroller face down hill. Legs are about hips width apart, hands spaced about shoulder width apart. Let stroller roll forward so that arms are extended and then use upper back muscles to pull stroller back in to you. Focus on a strong back to pull stroller in towards your body.
-Isometric Bicep Lift – Find flat ground for this station. With arms shoulder width apart, have palms facing up as you hold your handlebars. Very carefully lift back wheels of stroller an inch or two above the ground. Front wheel stays on the ground. Use your biceps to “hover” the stroller. Safety is first. If you feel your stroller cannot be lifted safely, please omit this exercise.
-Bent Over Shoulder Press – Ideally, use an incline for this station. It will still work if you only have level ground. Bend forward at hips, keeping spine in neutral alignment. Keep abs and back strong. Grip handles with arms shoulder width apart. Start with arms bent and stroller close to your body, and push stroller forward (or up hill) until arms are extended. Focus on your shoulders to create this movement. Repeat for time of station.
-Back Extension - Start with feet on either side of front tire (you are facing your baby). Legs are bent and you are sitting on your sits bones. Sit up nice and tall with a very erect spine. Hands can cross in front of your chest. Very slowly, lean back a few inches. Go only as low as you can control. Use back low back muscles (erector spinae) to lean back and then use abdominal muscles (rectus abdominis) to return back up.
-Basic Crunch – Start basic crunch with feet resting on baby’s foot rest or on either side of tire. Legs are bent and torso is on ground. Let head rest lightly in your finger tips. Focus on quality instead of quantity. Focus on bringing ribs to hips rather then the height. Keep space between chin and chest as if you had an orange there.
-Side Crunch – This one is for your waste line (your obliques). Instead of bringing your crunch straight ahead, angle it side to side. Focus on bringing your shoulder towards your opposite knee. Remember, it’s not about how high you go, it’s about how you get there. Your abdominal muscles should be the only muscles creating the movement.
-Reverse Curl - Turn around so that your head is at the base of the tire and resting on ground. Hold on to the foot rest or the tire behind you. Bring legs up at a right angle off the ground. Using the lowest part of your abdominal muscles, focus on bringing your legs in towards you, with hips off the ground and then releasing legs towards the ground. The range of motion may be very small. The most important part of this exercise is to keep your low back pressed into the ground on the release. Keeping your legs tucked in tight will be your easiest level and extending your legs straighter will make it harder.
-Lunge Walking - The Lunge is by far one of the most effective exercises a woman can do to tone and strengthen her lower body. It’s a compound exercise which basically just means it works a lot of muscles in just one move! A good lunge will effectively work your quadriceps (front of your thighs), hamstrings (back of your thighs) and your gluteus maximus (your bottom).
-Stroller Squat - The squat is the second best (or maybe tied) exercise for the lower body. It’s especially great for the lifting your bottom! Stand behind your stroller with the break off, hands about shoulder width apart on the handlebars. Feet and knees are facing forward with legs about hips width apart. Sit your bottom way back, with your weight in your heals. You can push your stroller out in front of you during this motion and pull it back in as you pull yourself up to standing position. When squatting back, keep your spine long and strong, with upper body only slightly tilted forward. A common mistake during this exercise is to do too much forward bend from the upper body when it should be the lower body that is reaching back.
-Squat Plie – Yes, it’s another squat. This one uses LOTS of inner thigh (adductors). Stand behind stroller with legs wide, feet and knees angled out. Lower your upper body until thighs come close to parallel with the ground. You know your stance is wide enough if your knees are directly over your ankles. If they go past your ankles (towards your toes), your stance is too narrow and you should step wider. Lower down and squeeze your bottom and thighs up. Both directions are important so stay slow and controlled.
-Calf Raises - An often neglected body part are our calves. But let’s face it, nicely sculpted calves look pretty good when you’re wearing shorts or a skirt. Park your baby on a side walk so that the handlebars are facing the street. OBVIOUSLY, park where there are not cars driving by. A residential sidewalk or park sidewalk ususally works great. You will stand on the edge of the curb with the balls of your feet on the curb and your heels hanging off the edge. You are holding the handlebars just enough for balance. You don’t want to hang on that stroller. Start with feet and knees facing forward. Drop your heels down and squeeze your calves to bring up yourself back up. Do one set.

The New Year is here....We are already 6 weeks into it. This is about the time all of us begin to lose interest in those great plans we made on the 1st of the year. "It is not always about how fast you get there it is about the journey". Something I am constantly reminding myself of. I would like to give you some food for thought in the way of new strollers and a new workout. One you may or may not have thought of in the past. In speaking to Baby Jogger, we have received the following tip regarding installing the canopy on the New Baby Jogger City Select:

The best way to clip the canopy on, is to press straight down with the palm of your hand (flat part) of the clip & both sides will snap down at once.

Mountain Buggy Urban Jungle...catch the sneak peak of what we will be shipping just before the New Year! UPDATE: Looks like the 2010 Mountain Buggy Strollers will be here after Christmas...We are now hoping to ship you the 30th of December. The strollers were held up in customs.

After months and months of wondering what the new Mountain Buggy Urban is going to look like we have a photo or two to share.

The Las Vegas Santa Run is one we will not soon forget!

On Friday my family and I took a quick 4 hour drive out to Las Vegas to stay the weekend and participate in the Las Vegas Santa Run. It was a 5k and all who entered recieved a Santa suit to wear race day. You see this race was as much about the Christmas Spirit as it was about setting a Guinness world record. I am still waiting to hear if we set the record. My children were most excited about it! while I was excited I was also a little apprehensive. Have you ever dressed 6 Santa's? You do not go anywhere quietly...ha ha!

Saturday morning came and 10:00am quickly showed up as the time to start the race. I am soooo happy it started so late as it was freeeezing. Well, for a California family it was in the 30-40's...cold.

We got to have pictures with a couple of Show Girls...good or bad for a 6 and 8 year old...I do not know. We even got to see a very sparkly santa.The kids were a little unsure of this one!

We were running with thousands of other Santa's!

We hit mile 2 1/2 and I thought to myself...whew...we have not lost one of our 6 Santa's. As I stopped to take a picture with the rest of the family my little hot dogger decided he would keep on running. So, run all of us did looking for our oldest triplet. We did not see him in the last half mile, we did not see him at the finish line, we did not see him anywhere. Being that we were in unfamiliar territory my husband went looking for "Mr.C" while the 4 of us stood and looked into the sea of Santa's. Very scary.

What I failed to mention to you is that I put a homing device on my children...kidding...no, we used labels on the inside hem with our "Morse Family" name and my cell number. I had ordered these from Label Daddy and use them all of the time. I love them. Mr C was able to find a nice family to call me. I was sooo happy to see that call from a 702 area code you have no idea. He had been missing for 15-20 minutes. I honestly had no idea how else we would have found him if it had not been for that phone call. So, the moral of the story is..."if you have children that like to wonder put a label on their shirts with your cell number so that they can be returned safely to you." Merry Christmas From my family to yours!

This year, Las Vegas is teaming up with Golden Gaming, Inc to take back the World Record and put Opportunity Village and Las Vegas back on the map as the World's Largest Santa Gathering! Our event is one of many around the world competing for this title, including Liverpool, Manchester, Tasmania, Hungary, Italy, Canada, Denmark, Dublin and many other places. But with the help of people from around the United States, we are sure to set the record in 2009!!

This is a Family event. Everyone gets a Santa Suit with their entry into this fun 5k race/walk. We will be walking and running in our Santa Suits to the finish line. Who knows our family just might help break the World Record. We would love for you to join us but, just dont have us look for you in the sea of red and white Santa Suits. Strollers are allowed on the course so how bad can it be??? This will help put all of us in the Holiday Spirit!
